Southern Grace

With the upcoming holiday, I’m sure you can guess what I’m going to talk about…Thankfulness!

I’m sure you didn’t see that one coming. 😉 I’m a seasonally themed kinda girl, what can I say.

Anyway I just want today’s post to be a short, sweet encouragement as we are all thinking on gratitude these next few weeks.

Practice being thankful with your families this month & see if you can carry it on over to the rest of the year. A few years ago, the girls in my dorm did a thankful board & we were all challenged to write down one thing a day that we were thankful for through the month of November. It was so uplifting to see & participate in every time I walked through the lobby.

The past few years I’ve done thankful trees & you can see it all on the blog post from last year right here. I plan on setting mine up for this year very soon. I grabbed some more ideas for a Thankful advent calendar in an even older post here.

No matter what you do, I hope you find things to be thankful for everyday, because that’s something in itself to be thankful for. Isn’t it? Everyday.

You could start a gratitude journal or simply keep a log in your phone of one thing a day that you’re thankful for. So you’ve got no excuses! You’re not limited to November, you have everyday of the year to be thankful for what God has blessed you with!

I’ve heard the question posed so many times, “What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?”

There’s a HUGE challenge behind that question. Everything we have (& don’t have) we can thank God for. He is the giver of all good things, after all.

We are called to give thanks in everything. That means when things are good & when things are bad, when life is easy & when it’s hard, throughout your struggles and your triumphs. You can always find a few things to be thankful for.

So I encourage you to take a few moments everyday to thank God for something & then encourage others to join you!

What are you thankful for today?
