Hello gals! Today’s post is for the fisherman in your life. Just in time for that special holiday that is now only 9 days away. Eek! Are you ready? I’m done minus one gift. My Grandpa wants heated socks. Only problem is you can’t find those down here in Houston, TX. It was so hot out yesterday that I was literally sweating while walking the dog this afternoon. It’s insane! & making me so upset. I just want snow for Christmas I mean come on! But as they say…We just don’t have white Christmases in Houston. Except that one miracle year, of course.
Now that I’m way off topic, let’ get back to today’s post!
Michael’s birthday is the day after tomorrow & he got his present a little early because I didn’t know what to do with it after I made it & I knew he wouldn’t mind an early present.
In case you don’t know yet, he loves loves loves to fish. Like a lot. I’ve even fished a few tournaments with him. Ya, I’m a pretty good fiancée. So his presents often revolve around just that, fishing.
I came up with such a fun idea for his birthday, a fishing lure tree. Since it’s so close to Christmas it just made sense. Now he has his own little tree (lights & all) to enjoy in the garage.
I took lots of photos for y’all too!
First, gather your supplies…lots of lures (try to get ones you know he likes/will use!) & a mini tree (mines from Home Depot) & maybe a few ornament hangers.
Take everybody out of their packages & enjoy the aroma.
If he’s particular, save the packages! Michael likes to organize his baits in cases with the cardboard behind them sometimes so that if he runs out he knows exactly what he’s missing. Impressive organizing skills for a man right? Too bad it doesn’t carry over into other areas of life, like the closet.
I hung all the soft plastics first, since they come in multiples. I stuck the ends of ornament hangers through the heads & hung them all over the little tree.
Then I added everybody else. This guy liked my sweater. ;p
I had to use ornament hangers on the frogs too. Just looped it through the top. Same way you would on your rod.
It came out pretty cool looking!
Here it is with some bright, blue lights I added.
I had to pick a favorite, it’s him!
Now here’s even more pictures from different angles because it’s strangely beautiful!
What do you think? Know a guy that’ll like this?
Let me know if you make it!
He was pretty pleased, even shared it over on his own Instagram!
Also, I only have about 5 billion Christmas posts mostly-ready, so be prepared for multiple posts in a day so I can get them all in before Christmas Day!
PS: Linking up at some of these great parties, check ’em out!
