A few years ago my mom was teaching preschool & all the kids brought in yummy treats for her to take home at Christmastime. We really, really enjoyed this time at the house by the way! Hidden in all those sweets was a treasure, an M&M on top of a slighty melted Rolo on top of a pretzel. Sweet salty caremelly heaven. Ahhhh It was our first discovery of these things & we have never turned back!!
Fast forward a few years & these lil guys have gone viral while we’re still making & eating them every year. You can even get kits to make them now without having to buy everything individually.
While Rolo pretzel things are nothing new at this point (you can actually get the recipe off the back of a bag of Rolos) I got a little extra creative with the presentation, so I thought I’d share!
You start with the typical cast- pretzels, M&M’s, & Rolos (I was smart & stocked up after Halloween while they were on sale! #lifetip). Some parchment papers pretty handy to have around too.
Instead of randomly placing the pretzels all over the pan, we’re going to line them out in a circle.
Then add a Rolo in between each pretzel. Overlap the conjoining sides with the Rolo. Hard to explain in words, but you see it in the photo.
Bake as normal (350 for 5 min) & immediately press M&M’s on top of each Rolo as removed from the oven. You want the Rolos to be soft but not melty.
I made some with pecans too. Same exact method.
Now add a pretty ribbon bow & you’re ready to give away your Rolo wreath to someone special!
They’ll look delightful wrapped up in clear cellophane bags!
Trust me, they’re easy to break apart & eat. In case you were worried about that part!
I didn’t think these were worth a recipe card. If you need one, look on the back of a bag of Rolos or google it!
