Hello dear friends! It’s been a sadly quiet week & I apologize! Trying to get a hang of all the things going on now & keep it all under control while working on wedding plans is hard some days! So, unfortunately, that hasn’t left tons of extra blogging time. That’s why this post is coming to you on a Saturday afternoon.
This past week I went ahead & made my garters. I’d made some for a friend over the summer so I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing this time around.
I got together all my supplies from Hobby Lobby & my reliable stash of sparkly junk. They have a whole section of stretchy ribbons in the fabric area as well as stretchy lace by the yard.
What’s not to love about a good pile of lace & fabric flowers y’all?
I cut a strip of lace to size & hot glued a layer of gold, sequin goodness on top.
Then I added my fabric flowers in clusters.
I used hot glue for everything & added on pearls & a tiny bow last.
**Make sure this isn’t going to be too heavy for you to actually wear!
You can use hot glue to overlap & attach the ends as well. I think I’m going to hot glue thin white ribbon onto each end to tie them on too, just in case.
I used some stretchy, navy, leopard ribbon (wow that was a lot of adjectives) & a few more fabric flowers for my second garter. I’m definitely going to keep the big, pretty one. So the leopard garter is for throwing out to the guys.
I love how they came out & it’s so easy to diy your garters girls! Plus, some of the ones they sell are terribly tacky. So save yourself a few bucks & grab your hot glue gun! This is a fun & simple way to bring some diy personalization to your wedding day.
Good luck gals!
