Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I’ve been in Oklahoma the past few days doing what I love, helping with a cousin’s wedding. Continuing in Mealey Wedding land, I thought I’d share some of my bridal portraits & outfit details with y’all today. I originally had wanted to take my pictures in the blue bonnets, but my dress wasn’t quite ready quick enough for that.
So funny story…we took my bridal portraits the evening 2 days before the wedding at the venue- my aunt’s house. It was all kind of a rush as family members & friends were arriving around the same time. I wasn’t sure if I wanted everyone to see my dress or not & I didn’t know exactly how I wanted my makeup. I didn’t want my dress to get all dirty & grassy before the real day. I was starving. I was mad because everyone was going out to eat without us. Plus it wasn’t exactly cold outside in June in Texas. The boys had just left for their bachelor party thing. There was a lot going on. But I had to take my pictures. I totally forgot about having a bouquet or anything else at all.
We grabbed a handful of flowers, I put on my pearls & boots & we took those darn pictures! In record timing at that. Therefore, I am highly highly impressed that these photos came out with me looking the least bit overjoyed. I definitely prefer the ones where I’m not looking straight at the camera though. My straight on smiles were a little forced.
Truth is, when Michael saw these photos for the first time he said, “Man, people really do look the best on their wedding day!” To which I could not stop laughing as I remembered the surrounding circumstances while taking these. I had to explain to him that this was just a Thursday for me, not the real deal; but, he was too sweet!
Oh & in case you were wondering, we finished the photos & I got out of my dress quickly enough to meet everyone at the restaurant before they were even seated. Talk about talent y’all!
I made myself a junky sash in standard Cathryne style to kick the simple dress up a bit. Also, that’s my great great great grandmother’s gold bracelet. It has her monogram on it & every gal in our family wears it on her wedding day
I used all sorts of things on my sash- lots of lace ribbon & various strands of pearls, a lace flower, a piece from a friend’s broken necklace, Michael’s high school track pin, a heart from a necklace my great grandmother made for my mom in high school, a vintage pin & a cog to represent me & Michael fitting/working together flawlessly. I hot glued all the items onto a circle of felt then used safety pins to attach it to a plain ivory sash I ordered from David’s Bridal.
A close up of our rings.
Now, here’s a bunch of photos of me getting ready. In case you weren’t tired of looking at me just yet!
My amazing sister in law fixing up my makeup.
My mother in law gave me this beautiful set of pearls to wear on our wedding day. Love them!
Definitely my favorite part of my entire outfit!!! My M.L. Leddy boots! My husband gifted them to me to wear with my dress a few months before the wedding.
When my dad came in to see me!
Him & my mom sat & prayed with me before the wedding.
Then all my siblings came in & we did the same thing. I am so blessed to have such a close relationship with all 3 of them! Those are my built in best friends & I’d never trade them, not even my sister.
I couldn’t stop peeking out the window to see who’d arrived & how last minute set up was going.
There was truly no better day for me. Nothing could have turned out better. That was the most fun week of our entire lives & we missed everyone as soon as we left!
Okay enough of me & our wedding for the day friends!
All photos but the fabulous Katie Hill Photography!
