I love today’s project! I’ve already expressed my approval for the plaid fad & I’m going to continue crafting it into my home this holiday season.
These platters are so handy for everything from serving delectable desserts to displaying a mini vignette of beloved knick knacks.
Supplies include a candle stick holder, a plate, mod podge, plaid tissue paper, E6000 glue, scissors & a foam brush. You can buy all of this at the Dollar Tree! My plaid paper is from Target, but I know they have some as well. Feel free to upgrade your candlestick holder with a bit of spray paint &/or glitter, like mine.
First, add glue to the rim of the candlestick & press upside down onto the very middle of the plate.
Let it dry for at least 10 mins.
Set the plate on top of your paper & trace outside of the circle.
Now, cut all around the circle you traced. Be careful!
Flip your platter over so it’s standing upright & cover with a thin, even layer of mod lodge.
Next, lay the circle of tissue paper on top, matching edges perfectly.
Cover with another thin layer of mod lodge & let dry for an hour or more.
It’s all ready for use now!
If it needs cleaning, wipe with a rag. Do not wash! If using for food I suggest placing parchment paper underneath or serving food in other packaging only.
I made a fall version with this paper, but Christmas versions will be wonderful for all your holiday fun or even to give as a gift!
