I love nothing more than themed tablescapes for holidays & events. I also love dressing up disposable paper goods for these events, for easy cleanup with a bit of character. I’m all about fast & easy table prep that still makes a statement. Throw in an easy, but delicious (& also super cheap) dinner & life couldn’t be better!
That’s exactly what happened for this fun football watch party!
I fixed up some supplies beforehand & put together a simple, yet festive centerpiece of tissue team poms. They’re so easy to make, just like making tissue paper tassels.
All you need to make your own is tissue paper (in your team colors, of course), scissors, tape & a few paper straws.
Step1- Unfold tissue paper longways & cut 1/2″-1″ slits down the length of the tissue paper. Do not cut all the way through. Leave an inch of space along the top.
Step 2- Unfold tissue & flip backwards. Roll up tissue paper (like a worm) with the fringe facing out on both sides. Use tape to secure middle when finished.
Step 3- Fold middle in half so both ends of fringe are now facing the same direction.
Step 4- Use a long piece of tape to secure middle of the fold to top of the straw. Add more tape as necessary.
Step 5- Fluff up tissue pom-pom & add a few to a jar or vase for an easy-peasy centerpiece!
I jazzed up plain, paper plates & paper cups with stickers representing player’s numbers. Use everyone’s favorite player’s numbers for a fun way to find your seat! Another quick & cheap way to personalize the tablescape.
I know homecoming mums are mostly a Texas thing, but check your local craft store for mum making supplies & look for these tiny football helmets, cause they are adorable! They come in all the colors & are around a dollar for a 4 pack. I used team-inspired straws & slipped the mini football helmets on for extra pizzazz. It’s all about those details! They dress up any drinks!
Now that your table supplies is prepped, it’s time to pick up dinner! Did you know SAM’s Club has this Family Pizza Combo that includes a hot (16in) pizza, cheesy breadsticks, 6 cookies & a 2L of Coca-Cola all for $13.98?! Where has this been all my life y’all! I can’t believe I just found out about it! It really was super easy, super cheap & super delicious! We will definitely be picking this up regularly!
All I had to do was open up the boxes & dig in! Perfect meal for a busy, football night! Check your Sam’s club here.
The pizza feast looked fabulous against my football table! I threw down some of the sports highlights from the local paper as a table cloth for several reasons. 1- It’s basically free. 2- Everyone at the table can catch up on their team’s achievements/conversation starter. 3- Clean up is made even easier when I roll up the tablecloth & toss it in the trash!
Place your tissue pom-pom centerpiece on the table, along with your paper plates, cups & napkins. Actually setting the table with these throw-away goods, instead of stacking them up by the pizza box, makes a colorful impact.
Thanks to the newspaper tablecloth, you don’t even need serving dishes if you want to bring things to the table. Cheesy bread & extra slices of pizza can be served right off of it.
Don’t forget the Coca-Cola either! I always prefer to bring a pitcher of drinks to the table, that way no one has to get up for a refill mid-meal. It’s the little things that make life more convenient.
This easy setup, easy dinner & easy cleanup give you more time for making memories & watching football with friends & family. I know I’m totally over-using the work “easy” in this post, but that’s just what this dinner is & there’s no other way to describe it!
How do you host a football watching party? Make it incredibly easy by picking up dinner at Sam’s Club! Dinner doesn’t have to be hard!
