Colored Deviled Eggs for Easter + Grandma’s Deviled Egg Recipe

Over the past few years, I’ve made it a tradition of mine to do pastel-colored deviled eggs for Easter. Our family LOVES deviled eggs. Well, everyone but my husband & baby brother. Too bad for them! More for the rest of us, right?

My grandmother has been a maker of deviled eggs for as long as she’s been a maker of mashed potatoes. They’re staples in the Collins fam. Add in homemade chocolate chip cookies & we have the family favorite foods trifecta!

First things first, you need the classic deviled egg recipe. Lucky for you, I’ve already shared a whole post about that, right HERE!

Now, before you fill the eggs with the heavenly gold filling, the vessels must be colored!

It’s so easy y’all, like so so so easy!

Who knows, I just might do a Facebook live while I make them on the eve of Easter!

These are my trays from the last 2 years…sorry for the screen shotted Insta photos…but I wanted to share!

Choose all the food coloring tubes you want to use for the egg whites. Choose the same amount of bowls. Fill each bowl 2/3 of the way with water. Add a couple of drops of food coloring to each bowl. Use a different bowl of water for each color. Divide the egg whites up amongst the bowls. Make sure they are covered with water. Add more water/food color if necessary. Let soak for 5- 10 minutes (flipping if necessary), then remove & drain egg whites on a paper towel. Arrange on tray & fill as usual.

Tada! Your Easter game just went up a notch!

My #1 secret for BEST deviled eggs, is using a potato ricer to run all of the yolks through. It make the smoothest/creamiest/fluffiest deviled eggs ever!!

I typically use one of those clear, plastic egg trays from the Dollar Tree. I like to fill the middle with Easter grass & top with chocolate eggs/candy. It even makes a fun centerpiece!

I’ve colored deviled eggs for a Gender Reveal Party– pink & blue! They were referred to as “little devils” for a “BaBy-Q.”
