Cinco de Mayo is just a couple of days away & we’re doing a big celebration over here, pinata & all! I’m having so much fun making decor for the party & getting things all set up. I’ve made 3 super fun items in particular & thought you NEEDED to see them! They are fairly easy to do & come out fabulously fiesta-style! So whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo this week, a regular Taco Tuesday or throwing a Summer Fiesta, these pieces will go perfectly with your theme!
First up are the colored Corona bottles! You can actually watch me do the DIY for these guys live below!
You need- glass bottles (emptied, cleaned & dried), craft paint in small squeeze bottles, paper towels.
Choose a color of paint & begin squeezing in around the rim of the bottle. You will see the paint dripping down, slowly but surely. Continue squeezing more paint down the insides of the bottle through the mouth. Carefully swirl the paint inside the bottle & roll it around to spread the paint. Bunch up paper towels to use as a stopper & hit the bottle against the palm of your hand to help coat the entire bottle. FYI- Paint will go flying if you don’t use paper towels- learned the hard way! Feel free to add the tiniest drop of water to your bottle to encourage the paint to shake around if it seems too thick. Keep upright to dry. I do not recommend filling these with water once dried.
Next, we ave these glittered up Dos Equis bottles! I’m obsessed with the glitter y’all! I wish I’d done more up like this!
You need- glass bottles (emptied, cleaned & dried), glitter, mod podge & a foam brush.
Coat a section of the bottle with mod podge- avoiding ay labels you want to be seen. Immediately shake glitter over mod podge. Move around in sections until bottle is totally covered in glitter. Let dry. You can fill these ones with water if desired.
PS- I used both chunky & fine glitter on the bottles, I like the look of both mixed in; but if you are using only one, I recommend fine glitter.
My last idea for you is this golden pinata vase! Find the mini pinatas in the party section at Target!
You need- mini pinata, gold spray paint, small jar/cup/vase, fresh flowers.
Start by spray painting your mini pinatas. Once dry, use a knife to cut open the fill tab until there’s enough room for you to fit your vessel in. Add water to vase & arrange flowers. Gorgeous!
I hope y’all are leaving inspired to fiesta!! Do you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? We had a big party last year & now its our”thing!” I love it because Mexican food is my favorite! Also, you cannot go wrong with a pinata!
