If you’ve kept up with me on Instagram lately, you can see I’ve been partying hard. Summer is chocked full of family birthdays & I have a big family y’all! Most weekends have been spent my favorite way- celebrating! For me, that means decorating! I love to cheer on my family & help celebrate their milestones with fun party decor.
American Greetings helps me make everyone feel special & celebrated on their big day!
I recently started making these tissue paper flowers & have fallen in love with the look, the price & the versatility! For one, tissue paper is so affordable that you can easily make a ton of tissue paper flowers without spending much on supplies. They are also QUICK to make & kids can totally help! It only takes a small grouping of a few flowers to make a bold statement. It doesn’t take many flowers to cover a wall.
Here’s the printable tutorial & supply list! Refer to the photo above for instructions as well.
- American Greetings tissue paper
- Stack 6 pieces of tissue paper flat & fold up like a fan.
- Tie middle together with twine.
- Trim each end in an upside down "u" shape.
- Open up fan. Gather top 2 layers of tissue paper & trim off 2".
- Cut fringe 2" down on the newly-trimmed sheets. Repeat on the opposite side.
- Pull apart top 2 layers, carefully, & fluff on both sides.
- Pull apart 4 bottom layers of flower petals, carefully, & fluff on both sides.
These are so light that you can use packing tape to attach them to the wall. I used tape for the greenery too. Cut stems off a live plant, purchase fresh from the floral department or go faux with clipping from the craft store. Anything goes! If tape doesn’t work for you, you may have to go with tacks.
You can always hang the flowers as well. I’ve done big windows with hanging tissue flowers- GORGEOUS! If you go the hanging method, sandwich a piece of string between 2 flowers; they will turn & you want it to be pretty on both sides.
Use them for a photo booth backdrop or to decorate over a dessert table. The best part is, you can save the tissue paper flowers for the next party or throw them away! I tossed mine in a trash bag up in the top of a closet. They’re out of the way, but ready for the next party. I’ll just have to pull them out & fluff them up. You can mix it up by adding small balloons in between the flowers or mixing in greenery, like I did here.
I even made some mini flowers for adorning my American Greetings gift bag! Who wouldn’t want to open up that pretty delight?! Can’t forget the card! American Greetings offers so many to choose from, you’re sure to find the PERFECT one!
When it comes to birthday cards, do you like to go funny or thoughtful? I think I like both, but a good laugh is always important!
SISTER’S DAY- AUG. 6
I grabbed 2 extra cards for my sister & sister-in-law while I was at Walmart. Sister’s Day is coming up & I wanted something sweet for them!
August 6 is Sister’s Day & Friendship Day! There’s not a better occasion to give a thoughtful card! The congrats one is for my sister, for putting up with me all these years, successfully! I thought she’d get a kick out of that. The thank you card is for my sister-in-law for being so sweet to me!
There is always a reason to pick up a card for someone & American Greetings can help! I encourage you to participate in the random acts of cardness by presenting someone who needs a pick me up with a card. A few simple words can mean everything and have a greater impact than we realize. Celebrate everyday!
