I shared a peek at this shabby-chic backdrop last week on the Sweet & Simple Bridal Shower post. I was amazed by how easy it really was to put together! I took a time-lapse of the process to share too! Beware of toddler & baby interruptions from my nieces lol. They all love to see themselves on the camera, don’t they!
Making your own is EASY! All you need is a bunch of lace. I like a mix of patterns, shades, shapes & sizes. This is a combination of my lace pieces & my SIL’s. We both hoarded it like crazy before our weddings! We purchased all of it from thrift stores! You’ll find curtains, tablecloths, runner & doilies in the mix. It is typically super affordable at thrift stores & works perfectly for a project like this. We also used honeycomb wedding bells, which I actually purchased from the thrift store too, believe it or not. You can probably find them at any party store, or scroll down for affiliate links.
Start with a big, blank wall & a large piece of white or sheer fabric. A flat sheet would work really well for this! I used tacks for everything on here. First tack up the background (the white piece of fabric/sheet), then overlap with large, lace pieces- ie. tablecloths, curtains, etc. Once the wall is covered completely, start tacking up the smaller doilies for added interest & dimension. Next add the wedding bells & satin ribbons. Now all you need is props & you are set! YAY!
