Happiest of Fridays y’all!
I’ve been working away on my fall decor & had to share a peek into my mantel! Have you seen the embroidery hoop wreaths making their way around Pinterest & Instagram? Or how about the hula hoop wreaths? My mantel features both! I had so much fun playing in all the fall florals & I’m completely obsessed with the outcome!
First, I’ll share how I made the hoop wreaths, then I’ll share all the finished pictures.
To make one embroidery hoop wreath or a hundred of them (like me), you’ll need some wooden embroidery hoops. I found them all at Hobby Lobby for around a dollar each. I took them apart so I could make 2 wreaths from each 1 hoop. You can leave them together if you like the look better. Pulling them apart will save you some pennies though!
You’ll also need tons of fall florals, a pair of wire cutters & some floral wire. A hot glue gun may come in handy too. I got almost everything at Hobby Lobby minus a couple things from the Target Dollar spot & that garland in the middle from Walmart. My Hobby Lobbys are all out of cotton stems at this point, as well as large wreaths & garlands. I managed to find 3 of these mini cotton wreaths & used my wire cutters to unwrap them from each other. They end up even better than stems for this project!
I started with my largest hoop which was actually a hula hoop I spray painted…recognize it from my niece’s Woodland One-derland? Begin laying out flowers, greenery, etc & attach to the wreath frame with floral wire. I doubled a big garland on my center wreath & added in more after that. You may need a hot glue gun to add in smaller pieces or to adjust things here & there. Keep adding until your happy with the piece!
I love the mixture of texture & color in the finished wreath! I added words to my middle wreath only, but you can hang anything you’d like inside the wreath. This is a gold glittered banner from the dollar spot at Target for $3. It worked perfect in my hula hoop wreath!
You can get as crazy as you want with these wreaths, I did a whole mantel in them! You could do a feature wall as well or just make one big one for your front door! I have some smaller ones spread out through the house as well. I’ll be sharing those soon!
I used tacks to hang these ones up; you could use command strips too. I bought some buffalo plaid fabric at Hobby Lobby too & cut it into strips. They made sweet & simple bows for the wreaths!
All of the books were my Papa’s! These were his engineering books, back in the day when they actually bought & kept their textbooks! I was so happy when he let me have them all for decor!
You guys, I actually stole these corn stalks from a corn field a couple of months ago! It was raining & it was actually super hard to pull them out of the ground. Plus I was kind of scared. I wanted a lot more of them to put out on the porch, but alas the fear got to me. Lol
There was a blank wall to the side of the mantel, so I cheered him up! These green felt garlands were $3 from the Target dollar spot. I clipped up 2 of them here & added in more wreaths!
Don’t forget to pin it for later! —>
Ps- Linking up at some of my fave places!
