These are technically not Mason Jar Lid Pumpkins, they are actually Mason Jar Band Pumpkins…but saying “lids” just makes more sense in the title. Lol! I hope you’re still with me!
I made these guys on Facebook live the other night with a full video tutorial! Scroll on down to see it!
I have been making these mason jar lid pumpkins for a few years now & people love them! I’ve sold lots at craft shows & at the boutique I sell at. They make super fun fall gifts as well. They are super versatile decor items as you can tuck them in between real pumpkins on the porch, add them to a vignette or use a centerpiece.
You can go as big or small as you want with these. I make varying sizes & smaller is easiest. The less bands you use, the smaller your pumpkin will be & the more you use the larger it will be. You can also use 2 different size lids to create different sizes- regular & wide mouth.
Of you’re like me & use Mason jars for glasses, you probably have some spare bands lying around. This is a great use for them! If you don’t, you can actually buy packs of the bands at Walmart , Target or your grocery store. There’s typically a canning section in every supermarket.
Other than the bands, you need spray paint (if desired) & stems. When I first started making these I just used a cinnamon stick & a leaf. Now, I fill it up with multiple cinnamon sticks, leaves, bows, faux floral pieces, etc. My favorite is the cotton stems!
