I love collecting vintage christmas items like- old lightbulbs! I’ve gathered a bunch of the last few years from stops at my go-to thrift store. The hard part is figuring out what to do with them! Lol I have made a few garlands & used them as fillers here & there, but they were getting to be rather boring.
I wanted to dress them up, but couldn’t decide on a method..so I tried 2 ways!
First, I did a farmhouse version- using chippy, white paint. I started with a few coats of white(ish), chalk paint & finished them with some light sanding on the edges. If you want to the extra step, add a coat of antique wax on top.
I used bright blue bulbs for this & wish I would’ve [painted them a dark, solid brown beforehand. I would’ve much rather that shown through than bright blue. But they still turned out darling! If your house a has a blue, Christmas theme, these would be perfect, right?!
My second method was GLITTER! These were easy! Apply a coat of mod-podge to you bulb then shake on glitter & let dry!
Y’all can use theses all over in decor, as a jar gift, tied to a gift or even festive jewelry!
I’d love to see what you guys come up with! Look below for the LIVE tutorial!
