With just a couple of weeks until Valentine’s Day, it’s time to get your door decorated!
I painted 2 adorable door hangers over the weekend & wanted to share them with you!
I am by no means a good painter y’all! I paint in a “rustic” style so if you mess up, it flows & goes. The point is to be messy & not perfect or symmetrical. It’s the only way to go!
I bought the heart door hangers at Hobby Lobby & they were 40% off! I used all acrylic craft paints, aka the really cheap stuff! I used foam brushes for the larger parts, a round, foam stamp for the dots & paintbrushes to finish it all up.
I always cut off the ribbon that comes on these & replace it with a scrap of coordinating fabric. I also added on a tiny bow & another small scrap. I usually go bigger with the bows, but I liked the simple ones on the hearts.
PS- If you find a wooden cut out without pre-drilled holes for hanging & do not want to drill your own holes, you can use a scrap of fabric or twine & a staple gun on the backside of the piece.
I did a time lapse of painting the entire thing, so it’s easy to follow the steps! Just pause it as you’re painting to copy it. It’s so super simple you guys. Do not overthink it!
The bets part is, if you hate it…repaint it! if you really mess up, let it dry then repaint it until you’re happy with it!
Here is the second one I painted, I started off wanting to do polka dots like the first. But, I ended up turning them into these simple brush stroke flowers.
Don’t Forget to Pin it for Later! —>
