My youngest brother moved to Arizona is January to play college baseball. His birthday was about a week after he moved in. It was the first time he was away from family for his birthday & I’m sure it was a little rough! I wanted to send him something special, so I put together a “Birthday in a Box!”
I did a live video on what all I included in it here!
I originally wanted to include more “birthday cake” flavored snacks, but couldn’t fund much! I did find the birthday cake Oreos, so those were a must! I also added colorful chocolate chip cookies, some birthday candy & mug cake mixes. All you have to add is water & you can have a mug cake! It’s the perfect idea for a kid in college with only a microwave to cook in! The mixes didn’t come with icing, so I sent a whole can of funfetti icing along with the cake. I totally would’ve sent a mug to go with it, but my mom assured me she packed a mug with him.
Since this was for a college-aged boy, I didn’t want to out too much decor in there & embarrass him! You know if it was for a girl I would’ve included a banner, balloons, streamers, birthday plates, napkins, etc! However, he had just gotten there & I didn’t want him to open all that up in front of his new roomie! I was thoughtful & added a few “birthday” items without going over the top.
Party blowers were perfect to tie onto the cookies & other gifts along with a birthday candle & curling ribbon! That way he sort of got to “unwrap” each item.
I threw in plenty of pretty paper shred & tissue, like a traditional birthday gift. I think he enjoyed it!
